Designing Student Digital Presence with AI: A Workshop for Higher Ed Teams

Main content start

With first impressions increasingly made online, an intentional digital presence is essential

This interactive workshop will equip higher ed professionals to guide students in articulating their purpose, crafting a coherent narrative, and selecting the appropriate channels – LinkedIn, ePortfolio, and beyond – to ensure their story is discoverable and credible. Thoughtful integration of AI tools at every stage of the process will be demonstrated throughout the session.

Workshop participants will work through student-facing exercises, view examples, and crowdsource strategies and recommendations. The workshop will conclude with a discussion of shared questions and emerging issues.

About the Presenters

Workshop presenters will include ILPL members Dr. Helen L. Chen, Michael Joiner-Hill, Ryan Morgado, Dr. Sheetal J. Patel, and Dietra Woods.

The Integrative Learning Portfolio Lab (ILPL) housed in Stanford Career Education at Stanford University helps students connect academic, co-curricular, and work experiences into a comprehensive digital presence that showcases growth, purpose, and evidence of learning. Since 2018, ILPL has designed curriculum and tools and delivered in workshops (online and in person) and courses that support reflective practice, integrative storytelling, and digital identity as well as in publications and conference presentations (e.g., AAC&U, ePortfolios Australia). Our ongoing work focusing on best practices in portfolio pedagogy has expanded to include the thoughtful use of emerging technologies such as AI.
